Let’s take a look at the Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water by Wishtrend and at the end I will let you know how I feel about it and my thoughts after using it.
But first,
What are the ingredients in it?
Of course it has mandelic acid as shows in the name. Aside from that, it has centella asiatica, Vitamin B5, hyaluronic acid, and beta-glucan:
- Centella asiatica help sooth the skin,
- Vitamin B5 moisturize and prevent itchiness and inflammation,
- Hyaluronic acid maintains the skin’s moisture levels to ensure that the skin stays healthy and plump,
- Beta-glucan reduces the redness and inflammation associated with exfoliating, and soothes the skin.
What skin type can use it?
Mandelic acid is beneficial to all skin types!
Can I use it if I have sensitive skin?
The short answer is Yes! Acids are typically associated with unpleasant, harsh products that cause our skin to become red and irritated. This is usually the case with face exfoliators containing glycolic acid or citric acid, as these acids include microscopic particles that can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, causing discomfort in people with sensitive skin. Mandelic acid, on the other hand, is unusual in that, while it is just as powerful at exfoliating as the other two acids, it has a bigger particle size that doesn’t penetrate into the skin’s deeper, more sensitive layers. As a result, there is minimal irritation, making it ideal for all skin types, including sensitive skin!
What does it do?
Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water can be used to improve the skin texture and improve the skin tone by dealing with pigmentation.

How to apply it?
Wipe the skin gently with a cotton pad. The soft physical movement (be as gentle as possible) will help remove dirt, dead skin, and other pollutants. If you have sensitive skin, you can apply it directly to your skin without using a cotton pad.
How often should you use it?
It is formulated to be used daily, so if your skin can handle it go for it. But it is best to start slow 2 to 3 times a week at night and gradually increase the amount of times you use it into your routine.Even if it is gentle it is still an exfoliant.
What products to stay away from when using this?
Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water By Wishtrend is an exfoliant, so as per usual stay away from:
- AHA’s
- BHA’s
- Vitamin C
- Retinols / retinoids
If you feel the need to use another exfoliant, we recommend doing it in a different routine or totally a different day. Just remember use your exfoliants at night and always use a sunscreen.
What skincare products should I use before and after this?
We recommend using the mandelic water as the first step of your skincare routine after cleansing, both in the morning and at night. Then, as usual, follow up with a toner, serum, essence, and moisturizer to ensure that the skin is moisturized and soothed. And importantly finish up with a good sunscreen.
It is importante to note:
- As with any other product, please patch test it before using it on you face. Just to be careful. We have a full guide on how to patch test if you don’t know how to do it.
- Use you sunscreen. You are exfoliating, you need to protect the new fresh skin that you just exposed. So use your sunscreen. Here is a post on how to do it properly.
My thoughts on this one:
It is great on my skin, use it right after cleansing. I apply it directly on my face (no cotton pad, I feel like I get more exfoliation than I need when using the cotton pad). It helped a lot with the texture of my skin. And the effects are notices fairly quickly.
It layers well with other products. And make up looks great on it.
Pro Tip: you can use it on other body part other than your face, your back, legs, harms,… which can benefit from it. Just be careful and stay away from sensitive areas.
